Clothes Moth Treatment Preparation Checklist

Cleaning first removes the food moths compete for and lets the treatment reach every surface. Here is what to do before we arrive.

Print this page or keep it open on your phone. Questions? Call 905-385-1818, 24 hours a day.

Before the treatment

  1. Clean the home before the visit.

  2. Empty the closets, bureaus, dressers and any other areas where moths have been seen.

  3. Launder clothes, curtains and bed linens, or steam clean them if you can. Clothes that are already clean can go through a dryer cycle.

  4. Clean all floors with a cleaner and vacuum carpets and rugs.

  5. Clear everything off the tops of beds and couches and the areas around them.

  6. Leave a clear path so the technician can inspect and treat every area where moths have been seen.

  7. Move stored items out of the areas to be treated, so pests have nowhere to hide and the technician has room to work safely.

  8. Tell us if anyone in the home has allergies, is pregnant or is under one year old, because extra precautions may be needed.

Time out of the home

All people and pets leave the home before the treatment starts and stay out for at least 4 hours after it is finished.

After the treatment

  • Do not wash treated areas. The longer the treatment stays, the more effective it is. When you mop, stay about 12 inches away from the baseboards.
