FAQ

General questions.

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call 905-385-1818. The phone is answered 24 hours a day.

How quickly can you come out?

Our phone lines are open 24 hours a day and we book mornings, afternoons and evenings, six days a week. Same-day and next-day visits are available.

Is pest control safe for my kids and pets?

We are licensed by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and follow its guidance on every job. Some treatments need no vacating at all. For airborne interior treatments you will be asked to stay out for a few hours, longer for young children, anyone pregnant and anyone with a breathing disorder. We tell you exactly what applies before we start.

How much does pest control cost?

Most estimates are given over the phone once you describe what you found and where. You know what you are paying before the work starts, with no hidden costs.

Do you remove honey bees?

No. Honey bees are essential pollinators, so we do not exterminate them and will point you to a local beekeeper instead. We do treat wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, bumblebees and carpenter bees.

Do you work with landlords and businesses?

Yes. We serve homeowners, landlords and property managers, and commercial, industrial and multi-tenant properties, including monthly programs for businesses and common areas.

What areas do you serve?

Seven cities in Ontario: Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Brantford, Hamilton and Burlington, including every part of each city. Same-day and next-day visits are available. See the full service area.

Is All Corners Pest Control licensed?

Yes. All Corners Pest Control is licensed by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. In Ontario, anyone who exterminates pests for a fee needs a licence from the ministry.

Are the products you use approved in Canada?

Every pest control product used in Canada must be registered with Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency. You can look up any product and its label in Health Canada’s pesticide label search.

Do I need to leave my home during treatment?

It depends on the treatment. Some treatments need no vacating at all. For airborne interior treatments, plan on 4 to 6 hours or more depending on the treatment, and 24 hours for children under 2, anyone pregnant and anyone with a breathing disorder. Each service page and checklist gives the exact time, and we confirm it before we start.

How do I prepare for a pest control visit?

Each treatment has its own checklist, from moving furniture away from baseboards to laundering bedding. Find yours on the preparation checklists page. Good preparation is the biggest thing you can do to make the treatment work.

Will I need more than one treatment?

Yes, for some pests. Cockroaches are treated twice, three weeks apart. Heavy flea, spider or crawling insect problems may need several treatments before they are under control.

What are your hours?

Our phone lines are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at 905-385-1818. Technicians book appointments mornings, afternoons and evenings, six days a week.

How do I book?

Call 905-385-1818 any time, or send the estimate form. A technician replies to online requests within 24 hours.

FAQ

Bed Bugs.

More on the bed bugs page.

How much does bed bug treatment cost?

It depends on the size of the home, how far the bed bugs have spread, the condition of the property and how easy each area is to reach. Call 905-385-1818 and describe what you found. We give you an estimate on the phone, and you know what you are paying before the work starts, with no hidden costs.

Do you offer heat treatment for bed bugs?

No. We no longer offer heat treatment. Bed bugs are treated with a chemical spray treatment, combined with powder and dust, and the spray leaves a residual that keeps working after it dries.

How long do I need to stay out of my home?

People and pets stay out during the treatment and for at least 6 hours after it is finished. Children under 2, anyone pregnant and anyone with a breathing disorder should stay out for 24 hours.

Can I sleep in my bed after the treatment?

Yes, and you should. Bed bugs are drawn to the carbon dioxide people breathe out. Sleeping in the treated room draws any survivors across the treatment, which is what makes it work.

Do you treat only the room where I found them?

No. We treat the entire home. Bed bugs hide in rooms you would not expect, and nobody wants them coming back because they were hiding in a room that was left out.

Do I have to prepare before a bed bug treatment?

Yes. Preparation protects fragile items and gives the treatment the best chance of working. Follow the bed bug preparation checklist.

FAQ

Mice and Rats.

More on the mice and rats page.

How much does mouse or rat removal cost?

It depends on the size of the property, how established the problem is and how many areas need stations. Call 905-385-1818 for an estimate on the phone. You know what you are paying before the work starts, with no hidden costs.

How long does it take to get rid of mice?

Treatment for mice typically takes around two weeks. Rats usually take 7 to 10 days.

Are bait stations safe around kids and pets?

Our bait stations are tamper-proof, so children and pets cannot reach the bait inside, and they are placed out of the way.

How can I tell if I have mice or rats?

The droppings are the easiest clue. Mouse droppings look like black grains of rice. Rat droppings look like small black beans.

Should I seal the holes myself right away?

Not yet. We recommend sealing entry points after the problem is solved, so rodents can leave instead of getting trapped inside your walls. We show you where the entry points are on the first visit.

FAQ

Ants.

More on the ants page.

How much does ant control cost?

It depends on the type of ant, where the nest is and the size of the property. Call 905-385-1818 and describe what you are seeing for an estimate on the phone. You know what you are paying before the work starts, with no hidden costs.

What kinds of ants do you treat?

All ants, with interior and exterior treatment. That includes carpenter, pavement, red and pharaoh ants.

How do I know if I have carpenter ants?

Carpenter ants are black and slightly larger than pavement ants, with fine hairs on their back you can see under bright light. Small piles of sawdust-like debris near wood can also be a sign.

Why are pharaoh ants harder to get rid of?

Pharaoh ants are adaptable and hide their nests well, so we use a slow-acting bait the workers carry back to the colony. It can take up to three weeks to kill a pharaoh ant colony.

Do I need to leave my home during ant treatment?

For interior treatments, yes. Plan on 4 to 5 hours for everyone, including pets. Children under 2, anyone pregnant and anyone with a breathing disorder should stay out for 24 hours.

FAQ

Cockroaches.

More on the cockroaches page.

How much does cockroach extermination cost?

It depends on the size of the home or business, how widespread the activity is and which option you choose. Call 905-385-1818 for an estimate on the phone. You know what you are paying before the work starts, with no hidden costs.

Do I need to prepare for cockroach treatment?

Not for the gel option, which needs no preparation. The spray option needs the kitchen and bathrooms cleared, with cabinets and drawers emptied. See the cockroach checklist.

How long does it take to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are treated twice, three weeks apart. The spray reaches full effect in one to two weeks, and the gel in three to four weeks.

Is the cockroach gel safe?

The gel is a low-toxicity formulation and is vapour-free, fume-free and odour-free, which is why it needs no preparation.

Can I clean my kitchen after the treatment?

Sweep and vacuum as normal, but do not wash cupboards, drawers or the floor near the baseboards until the problem is gone. The treatment keeps working as long as it stays in place.

FAQ

Wasps, Hornets and Bees.

More on the wasps, hornets and bees page.

How much does wasp nest removal cost?

It depends mostly on how high the nest is, how many nests there are, the number of entry points and the species. Nests higher than 30 feet may need a visit before we can quote. Call 905-385-1818 for an estimate on the phone.

Do you remove honey bees?

No. Honey bees are essential pollinators, so we do not exterminate them. We recommend a local beekeeper who can relocate the nest without harming the bees. We do treat wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, bumblebees and carpenter bees.

How long does wasp nest treatment take?

A nest we can reach is treated directly and removed on the visit. A hidden nest inside a wall or roof is treated at the entry points and can take 10 to 14 days, depending on the species.

Do you seal carpenter bee holes?

No. We treat the entry holes so the bees pick up the powder as they pass through, but we do not seal them.

How do I tell a honey bee from a yellow jacket?

Honey bees are slightly hairy and more orange. Yellow jackets are smooth and bright yellow. If you are not sure, send us a photo and we will help you identify it before anything is treated.

Should I plug the hole the wasps are using?

No. Blocking the entry of a hidden nest can force the wasps to chew a new way out, sometimes into the house. Leave the hole open and let the treatment do its work.
