A trail across the counter usually means a nest close by. We look for the nest and treat it at the source.

The short answer

All Corners Pest Control treats all ants, inside and outside the home, including carpenter, pavement, red and pharaoh ants. We search for the nest and treat it directly. If the nest cannot be found, we use a treatment that kills the workers or a slow-acting bait they carry back to the nest.

Signs of an ant problem

Ants are most active from spring through early fall in Southern Ontario.

A trail

A steady line of ants across a counter, floor or window sill, usually toward food or water.

Ants indoors in spring

Ants showing up inside as the weather warms often means a nest in or right next to the house.

Sawdust-like debris

Small piles of fine wood shavings near baseboards or window frames can point to carpenter ants.

Which ant do you have?

Red ants

Easy to spot by their bright red bodies.

Pavement ants

Black, with smooth bodies. Smaller than carpenter ants.

Carpenter ants

Black and slightly larger than pavement ants, with fine hairs on the back you can see under bright light.

Pharaoh ants

Gold and smaller than pavement ants. They like warm areas and are usually found on the sunny sides of a home.

Treatment

How we treat ants

Carpenter, pavement and red ants

Direct nest treatment

The most effective way to remove ants is to remove their nest.

  • We search for the nest and destroy it directly when we find it
  • An interior nest may need a couple of small holes drilled so we can treat it immediately
  • Baseboards are treated throughout the house, including the basement and the exterior
  • If the nest is not found, the treatment kills the workers and starves the nest
Pharaoh ants, or a hidden nest

Slow-acting bait

Bait stations go along the exterior and in every room. Ants carry the bait back and share it with the colony.

  • The bait is slow-acting on purpose, so it reaches a large share of the colony before the ants react
  • Pharaoh ants are smart and resilient with well-hidden nests, so bait is the right tool for them
  • It can take up to three weeks to kill a pharaoh ant colony, so patience pays off
How it works

What happens after you call.

  1. Call or send a request

Tell us what kind of ants you see and where. A photo helps.

  2. Find the nest

We trace the ants back to where they live, inside or outside.

  3. Treat at the source

Direct nest treatment, or bait the colony carries home if the nest is hidden.

  4. Give it time

Bait works slowly on purpose so it reaches the whole colony. Pharaoh ant colonies can take up to three weeks.

Safety and preparation

Before and after your visit.

For interior treatments, everyone, including pets, stays out of the home for 4 to 5 hours. Children under 2, anyone pregnant and anyone with a breathing disorder should stay out for 24 hours.

FAQ

Ants: common questions.

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call 905-385-1818. The phone is answered 24 hours a day.

How much does ant control cost?

It depends on the type of ant, where the nest is and the size of the property. Call 905-385-1818 and describe what you are seeing for an estimate on the phone. You know what you are paying before the work starts, with no hidden costs.

What kinds of ants do you treat?

All ants, with interior and exterior treatment. That includes carpenter, pavement, red and pharaoh ants.

How do I know if I have carpenter ants?

Carpenter ants are black and slightly larger than pavement ants, with fine hairs on their back you can see under bright light. Small piles of sawdust-like debris near wood can also be a sign.

Why are pharaoh ants harder to get rid of?

Pharaoh ants are adaptable and hide their nests well, so we use a slow-acting bait the workers carry back to the colony. It can take up to three weeks to kill a pharaoh ant colony.

Do I need to leave my home during ant treatment?

For interior treatments, yes. Plan on 4 to 5 hours for everyone, including pets. Children under 2, anyone pregnant and anyone with a breathing disorder should stay out for 24 hours.
