Cockroach Treatment Preparation Checklist
Cockroaches are not easy to control, but we can do it together. The more thorough your preparation, the more effective the treatment. Cockroaches are treated twice, three weeks apart. This checklist is for the spray treatment; the gel treatment needs no preparation.

Before the treatment
Kitchen and bathrooms: empty the cabinets and drawers, put the items on a counter or table and cover them with a sheet or tarp.
Living room, bedrooms, hallways and closets: make sure the technician can reach every baseboard and window frame.
Remove the covers from electrical outlets in high-activity areas.
Clear everything off the top of the fridge and the stove.
Clean up spilled food and throw out any contaminated food.
Move furniture away from the walls so every baseboard can be reached.
Pick up toys, clothing and everything else from the floors.
Throw out any severely infested items.
Cover food preparation surfaces and utensils, or plan to wash them after the treatment. Cover or remove exposed food.
Time out of the home
All people and pets stay out of the home for 4 to 5 hours. Children aged 2 and under, anyone pregnant and anyone with breathing problems stay out for at least 24 hours after the treatment.
After the treatment
- Leave the treatment in place until the problem is gone. Do not use wet wipes or wash the cupboards, drawers or the area near the baseboards.
- Sweeping and vacuuming near the baseboards is fine. Do not wet mop there; stay about 12 inches away from the baseboards when you mop.
If these steps have not been followed, the treatment may have to be rescheduled and a service fee charged.
